VOLUNTEERING TO HELP THE FRIENDS HELP THE LIBRARY
PLEASE VOLUNTEER AT SCHEDULED SALES - WE CAN'T DO SALES WITHOUT VOLUNTEERS! For Friends Bi-Monthly Booksales, we need Cashiers, "Floaters" (to help keep book displays tidy and similar tasks), Set up and Clean up help, and help with miscellaneous tasks. Email friendsalbany@yahoo.com to sign up! VOLUNTEER TO SORT & PRICE DONATIONS Sort&price volunteers process donations. They unpack,
look inside each book, sort into categories by subject and price, research some specialty items online, determine prices for
higher value items, check for books wanted by the library, pack boxes, set out FREE boxes, etc. Basic tasks have to be mastered
before learning tasks that require more judgement. It takes a while to learn how to do this so we ask for volunteers who can commit to at least two hours per week, most weeks. We sort books into 45 different subject/price categories for $.50 and dollar books alone - the great majority of our donations! |
